World Sickle Cell Awareness Day is held annually since 2008 to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and the struggle that the sufferers or a patient family face. This day was officially adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, to recognise SCD as a public health concern.
