International Students’ Day is celebrated on November 17th each year to honour the student movements and their role in promoting social justice and education. The day commemorates the events of November 17, 1939, when the Nazi regime in Germany closed down universities in Czechoslovakia and executed student leaders for their opposition to the occupation.
